Laptop Screen Black But Still Running
But this happened to my old Toshiba laptop. It will not make it to windows, but with cpu + memory and not hard drive, you should at least get something on the screen. Then my choices are to either replace the hard disk or try knoppix with some USB hard disk.a. The taskbar is set to auto-hide and is not visible 2.

Edit: not sure if hobbyist equipment can even measure it since the frequency is usually around 30 kHz or so. –Indrek May 6 '12 at 23:15 The problem is I found that it is cheaper to replace entire screen vs backlight. All lights on keyboard including power light is becoming on... Don't forget the hint.
I was panicking! It is possible it just needs a new BIOS or CMOS battery since that does seem to be dead.
